Why
Many officials are now publicly known under names that differ from those they used during the conflict. Journalists, diplomats, researchers and citizens inside and outside Syria should be able to check an official’s past quickly, with sources.

We compile what official records, human-rights organisations, archives and press reports say, and keep it clearly separate from testimony and allegations. See our methodology.
